If
you want to go to a grad school in US, you should think seriously about
GRE preparation, choosing the right universities, preparing recommendation
letters, statement of purpose, scholarships and obtaining a VISA.
Scary,
isn't it? Not any more with the scientific, time tested approach
that I myself followed and have seen many others follow successfully
You just need to do three things correctly for higher education in the
US.

I took GRE in January and scored 650 in my Analytical. As I saw
your CD, I decided to try my luck again and prepared for 10 days
on your CD. In my second attempt, with those 10 days of preparation,
my analytical scores went up to 750. These hundred points brought
my scores from 2080 to 2200. A difference between a good school
and a top school. Thanks a Lot. I owe it all to you and excitedly
recommend your CD to any one planning to study in the US.

What do you need to get these three things
correctly?
Let
us get down to the business right away. What do you need to get
into a good US university for a Masters or a Ph.D?
-
Advice
on whether to apply for a Masters or a Ph.D.
-
Advice
on which universities you should consider.
-
A tutorial
on how to get applications and other required material from them.
-
An
overview of the exams that need to be taken.
-
A thorough
practice for the most important exam: the GRE.
-
Expert
help on choosing the right universities for your application package.
-
Step-by-step guidelines to prepare a good application package.
-
A proven
set of strategies for obtaining the Visa.
-
A community
where you can interact with friends and peers regarding all your doubts
and questions.
-
A scholarship
program to help you with the finances.
No doubt it
is a daunting list. But, this is how a winner should approach the
admission issue. Perfect, no loose strings left and foolproof.
Without this, you may still manage an admission.
But just see for yourself.
If your competitor gets all these right and you don't, it is certain
that he/she will land in a better university than you even though you
have similar capabilities.
Take
my example for that case.
I graduated from REC Trichy in 1992.
I was third in a class of 25 in the first three years. I was from
a Telugu medium school until B.E. I prepared for the exam with the
same strategies that i am going to talk about.
My GRE scores: 640V, 800Q and 790A. What more:
I had very ordinary extra curricular and co-curricular activities.
But, I just prepared and applied the correct way. And the result...
Complete fellowships from Carnegie Mellon,
Brown and Drexel universities.
I still hold a record
for maximum number of fellowships in the history of my department.
I was not the best student in the history of my department (I was not
even in my year). But needless to say, I was the best applicant.
Take
Dr. Sudha P. Iyer, for instance.
She has taken an active part in compiling the Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD"
She got four fellowships with just 15 years of education. She got a fellowship for a direct Ph.D
with just 15 years of education. Now, this is a rarity.
You can attain
the same mastery yourself in three different
ways
1. Read
every book there is and browse every site that is available on
applying, preparing and getting admission in US universities. Spend
hundreds of hours figuring out what to do and how to win the game.
Play trial and error and hope that you have not made any costly mistakes.
2. Pay some one else to do it for you. The problem is
that good consultants (if there are any) are very expensive and cannot be
half as passionate as you are.
The run of the mill consultants sell
you a junk university I-20 for Rs. 30,000 and will prove to be a lot more
expensive at a later date when you realize that you will not get a job
any where with the degree you acquired.
Realize that with the increased awareness, employers around the globe
now not only look at the degree, they also see the university that gave
you that degree. Don't take my word for it; just use some common
sense.
3.
Let Sudha, me and our entire team (by the way there are 24 Ph.Ds involved
in the team), who cracked the process, walk you through it.
No guide in the market comes close to what we independently
discovered and used to get the fellowships. I
am sure that the PowerKit in your hand had already convinced you of
it.
No system teaches you
the insider secrets that we used so effectively. We wanted
to make a difference in your lives.
We did not want just marginal improvement. We wanted to revolutionize
the way people prepared to go to US and we spent 10,000 hrs. on building
a product. And what a product it has turned out to be...
...ATSGRE is the ultimate tool that walks you
through all the steps. So far there has been nothing like this in
the market. Complete, foolproof and result oriented.

The approach is so efficient,
you'll hardly believe that you've finished the entire process elegantly after you reach "THE END." Once you know how, you can guarantee
your own entry.
Before I go on discussing
Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD", let me tell you what I have
learned about the existing systems of GRE preparation.
Between us we spent a lot of time dissecting other packages. The more we researched, the more we discovered why
so many students are finding it terribly difficult to master the art of
applying to universities.
Why are
most other GRE training products
are not worth the time or money
1. They
were not created by people that did it themselves. We've been there, done that... "The
voice of experience is the best teacher."
2. They do not train you on the right format.
I could not find a single source other than ETS which completely understood
the CAT concept. Most companies sell CBTs and not CATS and still
think they are selling CATs (at least they say that).
3. There is
very little originality.
As a researcher, I was looking at how much research went into the preparation
of their packages. I only realized that they either copy each other
or don't care as much about content as the packaging.
4. They do not take the recent changes in the GRE into
account. The
new GRE is a bit tougher than the previous versions
because of the CAT mode. Not even one
resource took care of this in setting their questions or course material.
These
are the factors that we kept in mind while developing Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD".
The Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD"
is developed
with one simple goal:
You get admissions with assistantships in
a good US university if you follow everything that is given in the package.
Here is a summary of what is in the product.

The
GRE Preparation
GRE preparation
has two main steps.
What are the right kind of
questions to practice?
What can give better practice to
you than the previous years' question papers? ETS has released
27 actual GRE question papers along with the answer keys. In the Computer
Adaptive Test (CAT) format, this is approximately equal to 68 verbal,
39 analytical and 54 quantitative test papers.
To put it in simple terms, this is an absolute overdose of preparation
material. But these are the most appropriate questions to practice as
they've appeared earlier in the GRE. They present you with the exact difficulty
level and are from the same concepts that are involved in GRE.
However the Big
Book does not give
you what you need the most:
The explanations to the
answers
You will see it better in this example:
The following
is a question from Big Book, test no. 16, section1, page 613, Q.14 (percentile
score 46%)
Selflessness : Altruist::
A. Pragmatism : Philanthropist
B. Expertise : Connoisseur
C. Indiscretion : Misanthrope
D. Enthusiasm : Dilettante
E. Imperviousness : Fanatic
Ans: B
This is exactly
what is found in the Big Book.
Now, where do we make the difference?
Let's first see the useful and ignored details in here. The percentile
of people who got it right is a mere 46%, which means more than 50% of
the students got it wrong. It could have been brushed off lightly in the
non-CAT days. But today, you can score better if you solve such questions
instead of the easy ones.
Now, after seeing how important the question is, let's solve it.
Selflessness is the characteristic of an altruist
A. Pragmatism (practicality) is not the primary
characteristic of a philanthropist (one who does good to mankind).
B. Expertise or skill is the characteristic of a connoisseur (one
with an in-depth knowledge).
C. Indiscretion (being unwise) is not the characteristic of a misanthrope.
A misanthrope just hates mankind.
D. Enthusiasm is not the primary characteristic of a dilettante. A dilettante
has a superficial knowledge of a subject and lacks seriousness.
E. Imperviousness is the trait of not allowing anything to pass through.
The characteristic of a fanatic is extremism and not imperviousness. He in fact allows his
own ideology to pass through.
Hence, the answer is (B).
We
have solved more than 2500 such actual GRE questions (that is 81 full
Sections) in a step-by-step process that makes it very easy for your reference.
All you will need is the Big Book and your computer
You are well
on your way to success.
What is the right kind
of pattern?
ETS GRECAT
is a lot different from any other computer based test that is available
in the market. If you have the
Big
Book,
open the answer key to any test.
In addition to the section, question
number, answer key, you will find a number called percentile. It
is the number of students who answered this question correctly.
ETS uses these to determine the difficulty of each question.
In a CAT, when you start the exam, you will see
a question that was answered by 50% of the people correctly. If
you get it right, the difficult level increases (say to a question that
was answered correctly by only 25%).
If you now get that wrong, the difficulty level decreases (say to a question
that was answered correctly by only 35%). It keeps fluctuating until,
it establishes a suitable level for you. The final score is decided
by the level of difficulty you can answer the question correctly.
To exactly determine the ETS algorithm is a difficult task. However,
one can realize after some amount of research that the algorithm builds
some inertia (it does not fall sharply if you answer many questions correctly)
and that certain number of questions are essential for building this inertia.
Working on CATs is a great way of getting used to the pattern. However,
there is an inherent problem in preparing with CATS.
ETS or PowerPrep
has designed the CATs to test and not to train.
From
the second attempt onwards they repeat.
Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD"
ensures that you can practice with CATs unlimited number of times.
In addition, it ensures that questions do not repeat themselves in any
three consecutive tests.
Your questions are truly customized to you and
they
don't repeat until you get sufficient training
on the CAT interface.
Test strategies:
This
section is to the point and mission oriented. We have identified
short cuts, methods that work, the long calculations that you cannot avoid
and everything else there is to know about cracking the GRE.
You should be able to tackle each and every question that may appear on
the day you are taking the exam.
Some of the strategies
that are unique to this package are:
-
How
to get a sentence completion always correct simply by rewriting the
given sentence?
-
What is it
that you need to know to never make a mistake in the verbal analogies
-
Exactly
how many types of logical games do you have in the GRE and how to
identify and answer them in a scientific manner?
-
A
complete preview of the advanced mathematics that might appear in
the tougher GRE and practice questions.
-
There
are so many worked out problems along with this material that many
students thought this alone was worth more than the entire package.

My scores
went up from 1800 to 2100 with your strategies. They are

Choosing
the best universites for your background is undoubtedly
the most important task in the application process. This is where
you need maximum guidance.
What you need is to exercise your own
choice
while being advised by an expert.
If you are anything
like I was, you must be aiming at applying to as many lower ranked universities
as possible. You must be saying "they can't reject me". Right?
wrong!!
I applied to CMU, BROWN and Drexel (all of which were in the top 15 in
my field) and Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Connecticut (all of which were
much lower ranked). Guess what happened
A full fellowship for Direct Ph.D from all three top universities and
A reject for even Masters admission from all bottom universities!!
Remember that universities are very critical in
assessing your candidature. If they feel that you are over qualified
for them they will simply reject you. You must apply to universities
that feel that you are the candidate that will accept their offer.
But they take many things in to account. Like your GRE, TOEFL scores,
academic standing, your previous degree and the reputation of the institution
that offered it, your extra curricular activities, your projects etc.
Now how to then analyze
where you should apply to?
RightUniv of Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD" simplifies this
task
for you like no other tool has ever done before.
We have divided departments in to four division.
Engineering, Social Sciences, Fine
Arts and Literature, Pure Sciences. Each division has at least
100 universities from which you can choose.
We have further classified these universities in to four categories in
each division. We have taken the US News rankings, the admission
criteria, overall reputation and our own expertise in building this list.
The form is very exhaustive as it
should
be. We scrutinize your application as carefully as a departmental
admission committee and suggest you how you should distribute your universities
between these categories.
We then give you a compounded score based on
your background and
guide you on how you
should distribute your universities in each category.
You will end up applying to
the universities that want you
How to get an aid?
GRE is a just small step in securing the final result.
You'll need to get great recommendations, write a perfect statement of
purpose, attention grabbing letters, an appealing resume and do a lot
more. We will tell you how to do them in a How-to manner.
Some of the gems in this package are answers to the following
questions:
-
How to compete
with people who have higher scores and hail from better colleges?
-
Should you
apply for a Masters or a Ph.D?
-
How to report
your scores smartly?
-
How to draft
a convincing recommendation from a professor even though you scored
poorly in the concerned subject?
-
How exactly
should the statement of purpose be?
-
What are
all the value-adds that you can have in your application package that
make you stand out in any competition space?
My application
package that got me three full fellowships weighed 1/2 a Kilogram.
I have included every word from it in the Placementor.com "GradMentor/MS-PhD".

I never knew
that I could compile such a fantastic application package.
My personal favorites are "the basics of recommendation letters",
"How to write a good resume" and "How to write a project report".
My Ph.D admission is a testimonial of the effectiveness of your
package.
